Elevated Escape

For more than a decade, these Beaverdam residents dreamed of building a roof for their home’s kitchen patio, creating a cozy exterior space for entertaining guests. Hoping to also expand their views of the forest from the upper floor, they contacted The Hands of Sean Perry Co. to design a multi-level deck suited for enjoying the great outdoors.

To blend the old with the new, the crew collaborated on the project with Greg Baker of American Cable and Rigging, who built the original patio railing for the owners in 2008. Using dense and durable Ipe wood to match the existing deck elements, the Sean Perry team installed the new sky-high balcony, creating a beautiful border of picture-framed boards beneath the new cable railing.

For the owners, this addition was a long time coming — and they couldn’t be happier to finally enjoy the modern Asheville treehouse of their dreams.
